How to select a photographer for your headshots in Guelph

With so many options for headshots in Guelph, it can take a lot of work to narrow down a photographer who can capture your perfect portrait. However, investing in quality imagery is essential for boosting your online presence and ensuring an accurate representation of yourself in the digital world.

Why did Mike choose me for his headshots in Guelph?

It is not that there aren’t good photographers in Guelph; on the contrary, there are many. Regardless, it is hard to trust one of us who would picture the accurate representation of the real you.
For that reason, I make time to really connect with my headshot clients so that the facial expressions and body language in the images I take are authentic and they feel comfortable in front of the camera. I spend a lot of time getting to know them and listening to their needs, fears, and obstacles before and during the session.

I have noticed that the best shots seem to come towards the end of a session. It’s not that I’m necessarily improving my skills towards the end, but rather that my clients become more comfortable with the process as we spend more time together. As a result, the invisible barrier and defensive walls that initially existed between us are lifted, which allows me to capture their true personalities in the photos.

From booking to photo session headshots

Mike became a client of mine when he contacted me asking for a headshot for his needs. He mentioned that his current headshot had been used for over five years, and he required updated portraits that accurately represented his current appearance and presence. In preparation for our session, I suggested that Mike bring a few different outfits to provide him with more options than just one headshot or outfit.

At times, depending on the combination of the outfit and the background with my lighting style, I can offer my clients a unique and never-seen-before look. I save this surprise for the end of the session, after we have completed the headshots that my clients have requested. If possible, I suggest we take one more set of photos with my creative vision in mind. I am pleased to announce that almost 99% of those images are kept after the session, as they often turn out to be some of my clients’ best photos in a long time.

In-studio setup and type of portrait

For all clients in Guelph, I highly recommend using my home studio for their headshot needs. The studio is located in the central east end of the city and offers a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. During the session, I photograph the client with a unique headshot style against a background of their choice. The selection of the backgrounds I kept it simple, and I offer four options: white, black, grey, and warm brown.

Mike has chosen my favourite painterly warm brown background based on his past experience with portraits and the style he wanted to achieve. I love Mike’s energy and wanted to ensure I reflected that in his portrait. During the session, I made sure that Mike was comfortable and confident, and we started with a casual approach while also incorporating classic and bold elements.
In upcoming blog posts about my headshot sessions in Guelph, I will showcase the relevance of headshots based on industry, experience, and business requirements. Ultimately, I believe in taking the time to establish a strong relationship with my clients to ensure we capture the perfect headshot, or as I like to call it, the “money shot.”

Available for business owners in Guelph

As a small business owner and local photographer, I’m happy to provide my services to my local business owners and help them present themselves in the online world as they want and as their business demands. My true reward is seeing their businesses succeed, and I can help them achieve this by providing the perfect headshot.

Often, clients require their headshots to be taken urgently, leaving us with multiple tasks to juggle in our businesses. However, I’m here to assist in scheduling sessions at short notice. Clients can come in, have their session, and receive their proofs in 5-6 hours.
Depending on how quickly they choose their favourites, the final images may be delivered within 24 hours of taking the photos.
As part of my headshot photography, I offer ongoing support for my clients’ images beyond the photo session. Included in the session fee is an extension of my services that provides support for these images in the future. My clients may require various design projects such as billboards, bus stop signs, websites, and banners, and to assist them with their needs, I can coordinate with clients’ designers or web developers to ensure they get the best results.

Commercial future for Guelph

My commercial photography has been very much on the back burner, considering that I market my services as a wedding and portrait photographer. Even though I have sessions booked for headshots, branding, and product photography from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, I have been driving my business mainly on word-of-mouth connections.

My wedding and family photography clients often become my commercial clients, thanks to the strong connections I establish with them. When you develop a trusting relationship with images that you can feel great about, it is easy to understand how this would spill over into the other types of photography I offer. That’s why I am excited to offer my commercial photography and headshot services to businesses and companies in Guelph. I can help them showcase themselves, their uniqueness and their work in the best possible way.

If you’re seeking assistance with enhancing your business’s online presence or updating your headshot photo, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m here to help you out. Connecting with me can have a positive impact on your small or large business, regardless of your location. I am looking forward to smiling with you.
