For these Village by the Arboretum family photos in Guelph, Rorik wanted to gift his parents some pictures of his family and the grandkids with their grandparents. As residents of Village by the Arboretum in Guelph, his parents had many locations to choose from once they learned that their son was preparing a family photo session with them.

The Village by the Arboretum Family Photos in Spring

The Village by the Arboretum community in Guelph consists of single-family houses for active adults who enjoy spending time with like-minded individuals. The well-kept surroundings are always beautifully maintained, making them ideal for photos. Every time I pass by on my way to a photo session at the University of Guelph Arboretum, just across from this community, I think how wonderful it would be to photograph there one day.

In my very first photo session at the Village by the Arboretum, I had a chance to photograph Elva’s 100th birthday. Elva’s family organized a surprise photo session for her. I met this centenarian in person for the first time in my life and captured their Village by the Arboretum family photos as well.

Spring Family Pictures in Guelph

For this session, I had the opportunity to photograph Rorik’s family outdoors. Spring had arrived, and it was the perfect season for capturing beautiful moments at the Village by the Arboretum.

With Rorik and his parents, we decided to take their photos at the Recreation Centre in the Village Community. The location provided a beautiful backdrop with its well-kept landscape, fountain, and amazing greenery. During the session, I focused on capturing moments between the grandparents and their grandchildren, ensuring we had plenty of image variations to choose from later.

The day was fantastic, with bright sunshine that really brought out the vibrant colours of the trees and flowers at the Village by the Arboretum.

Next, we headed to the village entrance by the pond for our next location. Here, I focused on capturing the special connection between the grandparents and Rorik’s family and the joy of being part of this unforgettable photo session.

At one point, I photographed the grandmother with her granddaughter while the grandfather walked behind with his grandson. It was heartwarming to watch these two generations interact, with Rorik and his wife observing from behind and enjoying every single moment of it.

After capturing all the planned photos at the Village by the Arboretum, we moved on to two more locations to complete the Village by the Arboretum Family Photos session.

The Covered Bridge As a 2nd Location for These Village by the Arboretum Family Photos

The second location of the day was the covered bridge in Guelph. It was easy to access this location, so I picked this place so we could add a variety of colours and a different feel to this Village by the Arboretum family photos.

When we arrived at the covered bridge, the entire group gradually relaxed and became more playful with one another. This relaxed atmosphere allowed me to capture some wonderful candid moments. Knowing that the location can get busy during certain times, I started by photographing the large group. Afterward, I shifted my focus to the children with their parents, and finally, I took some lovely pictures of the grandparents on their own

It was amazing to see the way the grandparents looked at each other when I posed them for photos. Their love and joy were evident, and it was heartwarming to see seniors with sparks in their eyes enjoying the moment. As a family and wedding photographer, I typically work with younger audiences, so it was especially rewarding to witness the love in the eyes of older couples. Through my lens, the feeling of two people in love remains the same, no matter their age.

The University of Guelph Arboretum Photos

The Arboretum at the University of Guelph was the final and most beautiful location for the Village by the Arboretum family photos. With the vegetation having come alive after winter, the air was filled with the lovely scent of lilacs.

We started by photographing the entire group among the blooming lilacs before heading to the David G. Porter Memorial Japanese Garden. I always feel at peace when entering this garden, and this time was no different. Once inside, I captured some photos of the whole group, followed by shots of just the grandparents.

After leaving the Japanese Garden, our final stop was the Edna and Frank C. Miller English Garden. I wrapped up the group shots here, then focused on capturing photos of Rorik’s family, finishing with a few special moments of Rorik and his wife. It was clear from their expressions how much joy these photos brought them. I could tell how hard Rorik had worked to coordinate everyone’s schedules and secure perfect weather for the session.

As we walked back to the cars, we reflected on the day and how the Village by the Arboretum family photos turned out to be a resounding success.
